Default My Nova Project

So, I got a 74 nova a few months back as a project. It was $800, and all it needed was brakes to get it on the road. It's got the big ugly bumpers, but I plan to sink them in closer to the body one of these days.

It's got the 250 straight 6 and auto tranny. I would like to do some sort of motor swap, but don't have the money or place to do it right now.

Day 1, how I found it:

Towed it home and found out what it needed. I did a disc swap, replaced the wheel cylinders, and put in a new master first off. While I was at it, I put in 2" lowering spindles. The old rusty 14's wouldn't fit over the new discs, so I got some used rallys with tires, rings and caps for $300.

It's got rust behind the wheel wells and in the tail light panel, but it's all good, I'll fix that stuff eventually.

I did take some soapy water and scotch brite pads and got rid of the surface rust, so it looks more white. Before (right side of hood) and after (left):

Couple more recent shots. All the bumpers and chrome are real straight, the interior is in good shape except the front seat, which needs to be recovered. I've also done a full tune up, new battery, windshield, and new ball joints, sway bar bushings, and upper control arm bushings.

Here's a funny shot of my wife on our way to dispose of a few extra tires. I don't care what people say. Our scion had done more parts runs than anything else, and what other car that gets 30+ mpg can hold 8 tires?

nice looking project there... amazing what a little TLC will do to a car. seriously looks like a whole new car after cleaning that surface rust. brushing up on the rest of the exterior will make it look 1000x times more better but that only comes with money and time. what do you plan to drop in the front? LSX swap?

...btw moving to projects section for the sake of the thread we need an active one in there

Thanks for moving it to the right place. It's coming along slowly but surely. I'd love to do an LSX swap, but I'm kinda new to this kinda stuff, and will have to wait for more money and a place to leave it apart for a while. What engines fall in the LSX category anyway? I hear that the 5.3s from trucks are easy to come by and can be pretty fun for not a ton of money.

Alas, this project is for sale. If anyone on this forum is interested, I'll give you a good deal.

Funds and time are being spread between this and the Jeep, and I can't really work on it at my place anyway. Jeep needs a lot so I'm putting the $$ towards repairs/upgrades.

It looks like it is sold! Got a deposit tonight and the rest will be here tomorrow. Hope it doesn't fall through.

All gone! Happy to have deposited that $ into my bank account. Now what should I buy with it?
