Marcos BUDGET 4Runner Build
A friend of mine and now Norcal Rockstar club member watched a few videos of our wheelin' trips and quickly decided he had to be a part of the wheelin' community.
He found this 87 4Runner for $450.00

in good running condition, cosmetically so so, in need of tune up/ oil change and most importantly SAS.
Next he found this 84 Toyota pickup $250.00. No motor, tranny or xcase but has the axle he needs. This is after he removed the axles. The same day he picked up some 36" TSLs for $340.00 about 65% tread.

The axles

Removing the IFS system

Time for new front spring hanger. Home fabbed using parts from an old shackle reverse bracket from jeep. Outside gussets will be added tonight.

This is how it sits in my driveway this morning. When Marcos is done working for the day we'll add gussets to the new bracket, locate the new axle under the truck, make a square tube front shaft and mount his 36" TSL. More pics tomorrow.

So far he has $1085 bucks into it. There are plenty of upgrade plans in the future, Gears locker body protection ETC... but I think its pretty cool that he can get his family on the trail for that amount of moola. BTW, until this weekend he has never done anything like this. We had a good time working on it yesterday but the heat did take its toll.

At this point we got him up and running. We have relocated his shackle and raised the rear using longer shackles. Still need to make his front dshaft (squaretube). I'll post pics tomorrow.

He has some minor issues with it at the moment. Loose steering and some braking problems. He's waiting for some extra cash to grab some parts with. It really sucks because he's totally amped about wheelin' and hasn't got to a trail yet. Soon enough.

I can't imagine that your wife is ready for another project. I know mine is ready for the driveway to be cleared out. 2 cargo trailers, 1 dump trailer, 2 jeep cjs, 1 jeep trailer, 1 car trailer, 1 07 Dually and 1 Lexus.
Shit!!!! I think I might be redneck.
Oh and the most recent addition 1974 Chevy 3/4 ton.
I must be redneck!!!

Speaking of Marcos' rig, he just came into the office and asked me to come out back and he had his rig on the forklift flexing it out in our back lot.

I know the feeling of being a red neck! I have projects spread between my house and my shop. I dont have any room left to get another one but that wont stop me. I looking at getting a couple 72 scouts to put together for my Dad right now. Just have to get out to Sac to get them.
